Skinny Fat

Because Getting Fit's Not Easy

The first thing you should know about me is that while I live in the South, I don’t have much of an accent and I always secretly wanted to be a New Yorker, just so I could have the attitude. But feel free to give me a southern accent in your head if you want too while your reading.

My name is Kaylee, I’m a 29 year-old, though not for much longer, red-headed, 5’8, and a size 8-10. I live in Raleigh, North Carolina and I desperately want a dog. I’m thinking, a golden-doodle because they’re really cute and they don’t shed.

I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who constantly had tales of their last whitewater rafting trip, or when they hiked glaciers in Iceland, or the time they went skiing in the Swiss Alps. It turns out, those things are really expensive, I mean seriously expensive, and this girl is on a budget. Instead of doing those things I became something of a couch potato and I read way too many books about people who do things like that instead. I’m working to change that.

Things I like include bookstores, sailboats, the beach, the word “tokidoki” (Japanese for “sometimes”), expensive, organic grocery stores, sourpatch watermelons, nail-polish with clever names, fizzy water, Target, yellow flowers, trendy, preppy clothes that I can’t afford (I’m looking at you J. Crew), unnecessary kitchen gadets, and being a tourist in crazy foreign locations.

Things I don’t like include groups of people together on their cellphones, peas, owning a car, anything the consistency of baby-food, the word “goopy,” people who say they don’t like things they’ve never tried, real watermelons, fad diets, people who have no understanding of grammar, and guys that pop their collars or wear skinny jeans (I mean, seriously?).

That should get you up to speed on me. 😉
